Lithium-ion batteries are viewed as more environmentally friendly than regular wet cell batteries. However, despite the environmental advantages, Lithium-ion batteries are still capable of increased fire risk, with media documented problems such as cell phones self-igniting, power banks being banned from the holds of planes, and a ban on electric scooters on the London Underground.
